Kansas basketball point guard Dajuan Harris and KJ Adams showcased their long-standing rapport with this highlight reel alley-oop.

Dajuan Harris is one of the best playmakers in the nation, and he loves to show off his passing ability by throwing lobs to his Kansas Jayhawks teammates. Last season, it seemed that the senior point guard and KU forward KJ Adams connected on an alley-oop at least once a game — and they connected on one today in a huge way.

In the second half of the Kansas’ meeting with Chaminade in the opening round of the Maui Invitational, Harris retrieved an outlet pass and noticed Adams was standing behind him. With three Jayhawks leading the way, he decided to channel his inner Magic Johnson by tossing it off the backboard into KJ’s hands for the flush.

The dunk gave Kansas basketball a firm 60-40 lead over the Division II Silverswords. While it hasn’t been the prettiest outing thus far, Hunter Dickinson has dominated in the frontcourt and Kevin McCullar already has a double-double.

Adams wasn’t expected to even play tonight. His mother Yvonne, a former basketball star at Texas A&M, passed away on Friday and he did not travel with the rest of the team to Honolulu. However, he caught a private flight and made his way back in time.

He is playing in limited action, though he has made the most of it. Australian freshman Johnny Furphy got his first collegiate start while KJ came off the bench for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign.

There have been some tremendous plays tonight, but this likely takes the crown. The lob certainly won’t be the last between Dajuan Harris and KJ Adams, and the Kansas basketball tandem should continue to make highlight reel plays over the course of the season.
