This social media post by a Jayhawk fan suggests Kansas football quarterback Jason Bean believes he’ll be ready to go for the Sunflower Showdown.

The Kansas Jayhawks will take the field in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium for the last time as we know it later today. There are a handful of uncertainties surrounding the game.

Jalon Daniels has been absent since Week 4 against BYU, and while he recently announced he’d return to KU in 2024, it doesn’t seem that he’ll be playing another game this season. Meanwhile, Jason Bean exited the game in the first quarter last week against Texas Tech after sustaining a head injury and did not return. If neither of them is able to go, true freshman Cole Ballard would get the start while Ben Easters would back him up.

Ahead of Senior Day and the most highly-anticipated Sunflower Showdown in over a decade, Kansas football fans are eager to find out which quarterback will be starting under center against the Wildcats.

Perhaps this post on X (formerly Twitter) by @JHawkintheSouth could provide some clarity.

A passionate Jayhawk fan met with Bean at what looks to be the team hotel. She claims the senior signal caller told her he would be starting today. If that is the case, the chances of Kansas football winning would skyrocket.

According to offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, Bean has been practicing off and on this week. Although the coaching staff has been vague, he likely would have needed to pass some sort of concussion protocol to be active tonight.

Does this social media post carry any weight ahead of tonight’s matchup? Probably not. She likely can’t be relied on as a trustworthy source, and Bean might have not even said those words to her. Regardless, it gives the KU fanbase a reason to hold out some hope that he’ll be ready to suit up in what could be a program-altering victory.
