Top-graded Kansas football defensive players from loss to Texas Tech

FS OJ Burroughs (89.8)

Burroughs has been playing terrific football as of late and is one of the squad’s hardest hitters. He intercepted a pass by Behren Morton at the one-yard line while also finishing with three tackles and two passes defended. The junior safety was the only player to finish in the NFL-caliber range in a grade (defense and pass coverage).

SS Marvin Grant (77.2)

Playing alongside Burroughs and Kenny Logan is Marvin Grant, who has had a breakout season with the Jayhawks in 2023. He finished the game fourth on the team with six tackles, with one of them being for loss.

CB Kalon Gervin (76.0)

Gervin was expected to have an expanded role with the uncertainty surrounding Mello Dotson’s status, but he was relegated to his second-team duties. However, he still was present in more than one-third of KU’s defensive plays and outsnapped Kwinton Lassiter 25 to three. He totaled three tackles and a 76.0 pass coverage grade.

DT DJ Withers (68.5)

Withers led all defensive tackles with 36 snaps and played a solid game filling in for Devin Phillips. His 71.5 run defense grade ranks above average on PFF, and he recorded two tackles in the contest.

Next. Kudos to Cole Ballard for competing in the face of adversity. dark
