Former Kansas basketball player Tyon Grant-Foster completed his inspirational comeback by making his long-awaited return to the sport.

In his first collegiate basketball game in nearly two years, Tyon Grant-Foster showed the world why the Kansas Jayhawks recruited him out of Indian Hills Community College. The redshirt senior poured in a career-high 30 points on 10-for-15 shooting and made his presence felt defensively, recording three steals and two blocks.

Alongside former Kansas basketball commit Syndey Curry and his new teammates at Grand Canyon University, Grant-Foster is gearing up for his final year of eligibility at the NCAA level. However, there was a time when he did know if he’d even be able to play it out.

The 6-foot-7 Kansas City native was the No. 2 JUCO player in the Class of 2021 and committed to Kansas. He averaged 8.1 minutes per contest while scoring 3.1 points and 2.2 rebounds with KU’s underwhelming 2020-21 squad. Ultimately, the lengthy forward transferred out of the program to find a more favorable opportunity for his career.

Grant-Foster was rushed to the hospital during halftime of his first game with DePaul. The injury he sustained was described as a heart issue, and it was unknown whether he would step foot on the hardwood again. That was the last bout he competed in as a Blue Demon.

He requested a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA, which was approved, and eventually was medically cleared in March. Grant-Foster entered the transfer portal and later committed to Grand Canyon. It hasn’t taken him long to become acclimated to the new system.

Grant-Foster looks to be in the best shape of his life and has found his niche with the antelopes. Considering what he had to endure over the past few seasons, Kansas basketball fans should find it easy to root for former Jayhawk Tyon-Grant Foster with his new team.

Here is a tweet of NCAA and NBA champion Christian Braun praising Grant-Foster.
