Kansas football: 3 most exciting Big 12 Jayhawks games across next four seasons
The Big 12 released its scheduling matrix for the next four seasons yesterday. These are the three most highly anticipated Kansas football conference games from 2024-2027.
The scheduling draws that schools in the Big 12 receive will be extremely important in upcoming years, as the conference is ditching the traditional round-robin to prepare for the departures of Oklahoma and Texas and the additions of Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and Arizona State. Rather than releasing the conference schedule a few months before the season begins, Commissioner Brett Yormark has decided to release a matrix for the next four years.
Kansas will see some familiar faces in the new-look conference while also maintaining deep-rooted rivalries. There should be some extremely exciting games in the coming years as the Jayhawks — who are in the midst of their best season in 15 years — continue to improve as a football program.
These are three games Kansas football fans should be the most excited for with the Big 12 unveiling its future schedule yesterday.
Most Exciting Conference Game No. 3: Utah vs. Kansas Football in 2025 (Lawrence, Kansas)
Utah has been one of the more dominant forces in college football since the beginning of the 21st century. They went undefeated in 2004 and 2008 and have continued their success in the Pac-12. Under 19-year head coach Kyle Whittingham, UU has played to a tremendous 67.8% winning percentage.
The Utes have appeared in the Rose Bowl in each of the past two seasons and reached double-digits in the win column since 2019 besides the COVID year. With Whittingham locked into the program for years to come, Utah could be a favorite to win the Big 12 in 2024 and beyond.
Despite the two schools’ proximity, Utah has only played Kansas football four times before, the most recent meeting coming in 1996. In what could be the most difficult game on the schedule in 2025, Jayhawk fans should be excited to watch KU put one of the most consistent programs in the sport on upset watch on their home field.
The Jayhawks will meet again with the Utes in 2026, this time in Salt Lake City.
