Kansas football came out of its game against Oklahoma with one of the program’s biggest wins ever. These are the best social media reactions to the Jayhawks’ victory.
In a contest chock full of twists and turns along the way, Kansas (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) somehow pulled a 38-33 victory out of its hat to end the College Football Playoff hopes for No. 6 Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1 Big 12). They are now bowl-eligible for the second straight season after not winning more than three games in the entire 2010s decade.
Despite missing star quarterback Jalon Daniels for the fourth consecutive week, Kansas football was able to come out with a win thanks to some crucial defensive plays and an effective ground game. Jason Bean also led a game-winning drive in the final two minutes of the game, including a handful of nailbiting late-down conversions along the way.
Coming off of a disheartening loss to Oklahoma State before the team’s bye week, KU needed to right the ship if they wanted to keep their dream season alive. They did that and then some. The Jayhawks overcame a long rain delay and terrible weather conditions to send OU to the SEC with a sour taste in their mouths.
Lance Leipold and the KU coaching staff were hosting nearly 100 high school recruits in the stands, and they got to witness a historic triumph first-hand. The effects that a win like this can have on a program of KU’s caliber are tremendous.
While Kansas football fans could not be more ecstatic about yesterday’s performance, the rest of the world also took notice. Notable figures from the NFL and NBA voiced their opinions about the newfound culture of the Jayhawks. For the first time in over a decade, KU is back on the map in a big way.
These are some of the best social media reactions to yesterday afternoon’s win. I promise they won’t disappoint.
Lance Leipold has done an unbelievable job at Kansas.
