Kansas football stunned the world by taking down the College Football Playoff hopeful Oklahoma Sooners in a thriller that went down to the wire.

ROCK. CHALK. JAYHAWK.

That’s what tens of thousands of Kansas Jayhawks fans were chanting following the earth-shattering win against the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners.

In a game that went down to the final second, Kansas football and backup quarterback Jason Bean pulled off the biggest win in the program’s recent history.

Although his 15-of-32 passing performance — which included a pair of untimely interceptions — was not the best, Bean still led the Jayhawks down the field for a game-clinching touchdown drive in just one minute. A 38-yard touchdown run by Bean was one of the top highlights.

It was a back-and-forth outing with seven lead changes and some of the wackiest plays you’ll ever see in a Big 12 football game. Kansas turned it over on downs to begin the game, but it took just three plays for Mello Dotson to return a Dillon Gabriel pass back for a pick-6.

The running back tandem of Devin Neal and Daniel Hishaw Jr. was tremendous, totaling 37 carries, 163 yards, and three touchdowns on the ground. Bean also added 63 yards rushing.

Kansas is now 6-2, marking the second consecutive season the program has attained bowl eligibility after a 14-year streak of failing to do so. This win is the biggest during the Lance Leipold era, even bigger than the road upset against Texas in 2021.

With Jalon Daniels expected to return next week vs. Iowa State, everything is falling into place for Kansas football. A double-digit win season is not out of the picture yet.

The media will notice this. Recruits will notice this. Everyone will notice this. It’s time to start putting Kansas football at the top of the food chain in the Big 12 and college football altogether.
