2018 Preseason No. 1: Kansas basketball
Final Record: 26-10
NCAA Tournament Result: No. 4 Seed – Lost in Second Round
This was a disappointing season for the Jayhawks in a couple of different ways. Obviously, the second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament isn’t up to Kansas basketball standards.
Part of that loss was due to the fact that Auburn made 13 threes and shot 43% from deep. It happens. Only one team can win the championship.
What makes this season worse is the fact that they weren’t able to win the Big 12. That broke the record 14-year streak of sitting atop the conference. As a 27-year-old, I didn’t really remember what it was like for KU to not be the Big 12 basketball champion.
Tournament losses happen nearly every year, but breaking that streak was the true disappointment for this team.
