SG Quentin Grimes — New York Knicks

Grimes emerged as one of the most surprising second-year players in the NBA last season. He became a mainstay in Tom Thibodeau’s rotation and started 66 of the 71 games he appeared in. Grimes posted averages of 11.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on a 46.8/38.6/79.6 slash line.

The former Jayhawk and Houston Cougar was selected to the Rising Stars game last year as well. He is one of the best young spot-up shooters in the league.

Although Grimes only spent one year in Lawrence and ultimately transferred following a disappointing freshman year, I always like to use the mantra “Once a Jayhawk, always a Jayhawk.”

The Knicks open their season against the Boston Celtics at 6:00 p.m. CT tomorrow.
