Kansas basketball: List of Jayhawks competing on an NBA team in 2023-24
C Udoka Azubuike — Phoenix Suns
One of the most dominant forces in the paint Bill Self has ever coached, Azubuike competed with Agbaji last season on the Jazz. Unfortunately, he endured the same struggles he had with Kansas basketball, such as poor free throw shooting and a lack of offensive versatility. Utah declined his team option, making him an unrestricted free agent.
After searching for a new team to call home, Azubuike eventually wound up with the Suns after a short stint with the Boston Celtics in the G League. Phoenix has one of the most potent rosters in all of basketball and was able to afford Azubuike on a two-way deal.
Currently, Azubuike’s playing time prospects don’t look ideal. He is the fifth center on the depth chart behind Jusuf Nurkic, Drew Eubanks, Bol Bol, and Chimezie Metu. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if he was waived sometime this season and signed with a new team.
The Suns play the Warriors tonight at 9:00 p.m. CT. Whether or not Azubuike will suit up remains unknown.
