As if the college basketball world wasn’t already clearly aware of who the best coach in the nation was, they are about to find out with vengeance that it’s Bill Self of Kansas basketball.
While many could have expected Bill to go quietly away after the last couple of years, he is putting everyone on notice he is going to take the greatest blue blood to another level. Fresh off his second national championship, KU entered last season’s tourney with another seed poised for another title run.
However, a health scare took Self and his team’s tourney chances, making them an early exit. KU got bounced by an athletic Arkansas team led by Mr. Helicopter shirt Eric Musselman. Can’t wait to see you soon! Now Self goes into the season healthy and refreshed ready to unleash the Next Level.
We finally saw the end to the 6-year-long infractions case where five Level I infractions were reduced to a glorified smack on the wrist, with the exception of taking down a Final Four banner and vacating 15 wins. Kentucky can start the year with the all-time wins record. Self has reeled them in once and will do so again very quickly.
The cloud is gone and Self will continue to pound the recruiting and transfer portal like a college kid at a buffet. Self already reeled in the biggest transfer prize in NCAA history in big man Hunter Dickinson, a Preseason First-Team All-American. Self has already proven to adapt to the change and will be dominant in the new transfer and NIL world.
Kansas basketball has a roster full of veteran talent and, even better, a team that has elite defenders and a dominant big man to run his offense through. Like Self said, we waited too long for title number two and two years is long enough. Let’s go get number three!
The future is bright with three premium recruits committed for next year and Self primed to take advantage of the transfer portal again at the end of the year.
But first. Self will lead the preseason number one squad into the season poised to unleash the next level and bring another title to the Mecca of College Basketball.
As always Rock Chalk and Let’s Go!
