Kansas basketball: Predicting the Jayhawks starting 5 and key bench players
Power Forward: KJ Adams
Despite averaging just 1.0 points per game in his inaugural season as a Jayhawk, KJ Adams broke out in a huge way for Coach Self in 2022-23. He took over the team’s starting center role and posted 10.6 points and 4.3 rebounds while appearing in every game.
While he performed well above expectations in his junior year, Adams can now slide over to his normal position at power forward with the Jayhawks bringing in a big man through the transfer portal. His slender 6-foot-7 is much better equipped for moving around the floor rather than staying in the paint all game. There have been murmurs about an improved jump shot and passing over the offseason.
Kansas basketball fans will finally witness how well the uber-athletic forward can play in a more comfortable situation. The 2022-23 Big 12 Most Improved Player could continue to take massive steps in his third year at KU.
