Top-50 recruit Rakease Passmore is committing tonight at 6:30 p.m. CT. Kansas basketball is the overwhelming favorite in the race to land him.

The Kansas Jayhawks could have one of their leading recruiting targets commit to them this evening.

Rakease Passmore is down to LSU, Oklahoma, and Kansas after cutting Arkansas out last week. He turned down an official visit from Eric Musselman and the Razorbacks, instead taking a trip to Lawrence for Late Night in the Phog.

Passmore is the No. 44 player in the 2024 class, according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. They list him as the No. 13 small forward and the No. 5 overall North Carolina-based recruit. Other sites hold similar rankings for him, though he is viewed as a long-term player with the program. He has drawn comparisons to national champion and Jayhawk great Ochai Agbaji.

Kansas offered him in Sept. 2022, but they had not been heavily involved in his recruitment until recent weeks. Bill Self and his coaching staff went to watch him at his high school, Combine Academy, and the meeting reportedly went flawless. It was not long until recruiting analysts considered KU the top school to land him.

Combine is consistently one of the top teams in the nation, but Passmore still has found a way to stand out among the rest of the talent. The 6-foot-5 wing has tremendous defensive potential and a 46-inch vertical. He also has ties to a current Kansas basketball commit, Labaron Philon. The two played for the Team Thad AAU program over the summer.

Several insiders, such as KU beat reporter Michael Swain and On3 expert Jamie Shaw, have put in crystal balls for Passmore in favor of the Jayhawks. We could see him become the third pledge in the class later tonight.

You can track his live announcement on the 247 Sports video page on YouTube at 6:30 p.m. CT.
