The FBI opened an investigation on college basketball in 2016, and the Kansas Jayhawks have been at the forefront of them ever since. Alleged payments to the guardians of Josh Jackson, Billy Preston, and Silvio de Sousa have surfaced in their findings, meaning the program could face some monumental sanctions.
KU has acted somewhat accordingly with the NCAA, self-imposing a scholarship limit over the next three seasons and suspending Bill Self for the four opening games of 2022-23 in hopes of softening the blow for the actual punishment. LSU, Arizona, and others have received harsh penalties in the past.
