Rakease Passmore, Flory Bidunga to visit Kansas basketball during Late Night in the Phog
Kansas basketball will host two big-time high school recruits in Flory Bidunga and Rakease Passmore during Late Night in the Phog.
Late Night in the Phog is a fun night for students and current players, but it also goes a long way on the recruiting trail. During the event, the Kansas Jayhawks will host a pledge and a Jayhawk hopeful tonight.
Flory Bidunga, the top-rated center in the upcoming graduating year, committed to Kansas over Duke, Auburn, and Michigan in August. The 6-foot-9 shot-blocking freak is considered an NBA prospect and visited KU this past May but will make his way back to Lawrence during Late Night.
Assuming the Congo native sticks with Kansas all the way until National Signing Day, he’d be the fifth-highest-rated recruit to ever join Bill Self’s Jayhawks. The coaching staff prioritized him this summer and it paid off in a big way.
Generational prospect Cooper Flagg was expected to join Bidunga today, but he canceled his visit, ultimately cutting Kansas out of his recruitment. He had been one of Coach Self’s leading targets throughout the entire offseason, so it was certainly a disappointing development. However, there will be another important player on campus during Late Night.
Kansas basketball looking to make a strong impression on Rakease Passmore
Rakease Passmore is the other player visiting KU tonight. He emerged as a leading target for Kansas last week after Bill Self visited him at Combine Academy. Following the meeting, he withdrew from his looming visit to Arkansas to take a trip to Lawrence during Late Night instead.
The top 50 wing recently announced his commitment date for October 11. He is uber-athletic and one of the most college-ready prospects in his class. He will choose between Kansas, LSU, and Oklahoma.
It is a great sign to see Passmore’s last trip being to KU. Assuming the coaches and fanbase show him a good time tonight, we could very well see him joining Bidunga and Labaron Philon as a member of the 2024 Jayhawk class.
