No. 2 Concern: The availability of Jalon Daniels moving forward

Saturday wasn’t the first time Kansas football fans expected Jalon Daniels to suit up and he didn’t. Nothing against him, because I love Jalon, but there’s no way we can go into any remaining games assuming he will start at quarterback. If anything, we’re probably better off assuming Bean will get the call under center.

Daniels could start the final seven games of the regular season, or he could miss the next two or three. There is really no telling what the future holds in his situation. Back injuries are killers, especially for a quarterback who relies on his legs fairly often.

The health of Jalon will play a huge factor as to whether KU can compete with the top schools in the conference. It’s unfortunate that he was unable to play against the toughest team on the schedule, because we would have been able to develop a better understanding of whether the Jayhawks are Big 12 true contenders. Now, we’re back to square one.
