Kansas basketball: Analyzing each school in play for 5-star Cooper Flagg
Kansas Basketball
Kansas is a close second in Flagg’s recruitment. They emerged as a contender despite him being considered a Duke lock when he initially reclassified. Right now, I’d give the Jayhawks a 35-40% probability.
The KU coaching staff and Jon Scheyer recently visited Flagg and his teammates Liam McNeeley and Derik Queen at Montverde Academy. They are using the appeal of McNeeley — a fellow 5-star recruit down to KU and Indiana — to lure him to Lawrence.
Following the season’s end, Kevin McCullar will graduate. Hunter Dickinson will likely head to the NBA, and other players could leave for the league or the transfer portal. Flagg would immediately become a starting player at KU.
I wouldn’t bet on Flagg donning the crimson and blue next season. However, if there’s anyone who can steal a recruit away at the last minute, it is Bill Self.
