Big 12 football: Preview and predictions for each Week 5 conference game
West Virginia Mountaineers (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) at TCU Horned Frogs (3-1, 1-0 Big 12)
TCU has settled in after losing its season opener to Colorado, the game that led to Deion Sanders’ most recent surge of publicity. The Horned Frogs have proved while they are not nearly as talented as last season, they’ll still be able to give any Big 12 football team a run for their money.
On the other hand, West Virginia has been a pleasant surprise in the conference. They’ve only lost to top-10 ranked Penn State, and head coach Neal Brown — who was on the hot seat coming into the season — is giving the Mountaineers Athletic Department a reason to rethink his job security.
WVU won its conference opener against Texas Tech and is trending in the right direction. Will it be enough to overcome Sonny Dykes’ team? Probably not. But with how well they’ve played lately, it wouldn’t shock me if West Virginia did its thing in Fort Worth and stole a victory in a close contest.
Game Prediction: 24-22, TCU
