2. His size provides him with loads of defensive potential

At 6-foot-4, 180 lbs, Philon fits the mold of the prototypical defensive guard in Bill Self’s system. If he can’t get it going offensively, he’ll still be able to impact the game with his defense, which is reminiscent of his future teammate, Harris.

We attached a YouTube video of full game highlights from one of his games. After watching it, you’ll see why Kansas basketball recruited this kid. His arms are incredibly long for a point guard, and he is able to get into passing lanes with his lateral quickness.

KU freshmen often have trouble seeing the floor, but when someone can be a difference maker against opposing offenses, Coach Self will find a way to provide them minutes. I really like what I see from Philon, from his length to his finishing ability at the rim.
