Right before Labaron Philon committed to Kansas basketball, Isaiah Elohim cut his list to three schools and included the Jayhawks.

The Kansas Jayhawks are in the running for one of the top-ranked wings in the upcoming graduating year. Isaiah Elohim is down to three, with Arkansas, Villanova, and Kansas being his leading destinations.

A 6-foot-5, 190 lbs wing who attends Sierra Canyon, Elohim missed a good portion of last season due to a knee injury. He underwent a PRP procedure and should be good to go as a senior. 247 Sports rates him as the No. 38 player in the country in their composite rankings.

Elohim is one of the most dynamic forwards in the Class of 2024. He moves and dribbles like a guard but has the defensive potential of a long wing.

Last year, the New York native was a foremost target for Kansas basketball. He took an official visit to the campus from Feb. 25-26, the first of his recruitment. KU had been recruiting him for over one year, but talks seemed to die down during the offseason.

As a result, it’s difficult to envision a scenario where Elohim becomes a Jayhawk. He has close ties to Arkansas and now-NBA player Anthony Black, who was a member of the Razorbacks team that eliminated Kansas from the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Including KU in his final list is merely a formality to the coaching staff.

Still, he had great things to say about the Kansas basketball program. Elohim spoke with 247 Sports to give his thoughts:

“Kansas and Coach Townsend and Self have been recruiting me for a while and I had a great visit and relationship with the staff. They’re a school with a great culture and history and I like the way they do things.”

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Elohim will commit to Arkansas. But if Bill Self decides to prioritize him over other wing targets such as Rakease Passmore or Chase McCarty, perhaps he will reconsider his choices.
