Former Kansas basketball star jokes with Hunter Dickinson for cheating boot camp drills
Former Kansas basketball star Sherron Collins believes that Hunter Dickinson was cutting corners during drills at Bill Self’s Boot Camp.
The Kansas Jayhawks recently concluded offseason boot camp, which is a five-day stretch of grueling conditioning drills in preparation for the regular season. However, it appears that KU’s star transfer, Hunter Dickinson, did not endure the same level of intensity in practice at Michigan.
In a short video posted by @KUHoops on Instagram, Bill Self praises Kevin McCullar for being the toughest guy on the team. He mentions the 50/50 ball that eventually won the Jayhawks the game last season, allowing them to secure the Big 12 title. In this clip, though, you can see Hunter Dickinson cheating the line for the team’s sprints.
Former Jayhawk Sherron Collins noticed and immediately took his thoughts to the comment section.
“Tell hunter stop cheating get on that line 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” the KU legend remarked. Current Kansas basketball players Kevin McCullar and Dajuan Harris followed suit, further confirming that he indeed was cheating the drills. Another former Jayhawk, Mario Little, claimed that the team would be running until the Big 12 Tournament back when he was a player.
Collins played at KU from 2006-2010, leaving the university as the winningest player in program history. The two-time All-American was part of the university’s national championship-winning team in 2008, which also happened to be Bill Self’s first NCAA title. Therefore, it’s safe to say Collins knows a thing or two about the Hall of Fame head coach’s practice drills.
Dickinson joked and tried to cover up for himself, commenting: “I’m on the line I’m just off the court 😂😂,” though it’s pretty clear that he is far away from the rest of the team on the line.
The 7-foot-2 big man will have his work cut out for him playing for Coach Self, who is known to get the best out of each and every one of his players. However, it will be good for him in the long run as he looks to win a national championship at Kansas and eventually play in the NBA.
