2. Quentin Skinner leads the team in receiving yards

Lawrence Arnold and Luke Grimm were KU’s consistent receivers last season. Quentin Skinner was more of a wildcard. While he is the fastest player on the offense and often dominates cornerback competition at 6-foot-5, 195 lbs, his routes are not always as crisp as the two aforementioned wideouts.

Last week, we saw something from Skinner that we hadn’t since he committed to the Jayhawks – he was effective in short-yardage scenarios. The coaching staff primarily uses him as a deep threat because he was haunted by drops and simply was not coordinated enough to be Jalon Daniels’ go-to guy. It seems that he’s made tremendous progress this offseason.

Skinner is coming off a 4-catch, 50-yard performance and is on pace for more than 600 yards in 2023. As he continues to make strides in his game, I think this will be a breakout game for him. His speed and size will torment the questionable BYU secondary that is already missing several starters.
