If the schedule-makers match up Colorado and Kansas football next season, it will be one of the most exciting games of the year. Here’s why.

The Colorado Buffaloes are the hottest topic in college football right now. Coach Deion ‘Prime’ Sanders put the world on notice when the Buffs won their Week 1 matchup in Fort Worth against TCU. They just hosted College GameDay in Boulder, and just like that, Colorado is ranked and undefeated heading into their fourth game against No. 10 Oregon.

CU is led by Shedeur Sanders, the son of Coach Prime. He ranks second in the nation in passing yards (1,251) and seventh in passing touchdowns (10). The team also boasts two-way superstar and former No. 1 ranked recruit Travis Hunter, though he will be out for several weeks with a lacerated liver from a brutal hit he took against rival school Colorado State.

But excluding the outside attention and household names Colorado has, their recent success is comparable to the Kansas football program under Lance Leipold. KU began its season 5-0 last season, hosted College GameDay, and is under leadership of a new head coach in Lance Leipold. The worst Power 5 football team for more than a decade is now in line to finish in the top half of the conference.

With Colorado set to join Big 12 Athletics in fall of 2024, the team will embark on new journies. One of them could be against Kansas if schedule makers decide to pair the bordering states against one another in football. Although nothing is set in stone considering there are 16 schools and only nine games to schedule, it would be a thrilling matchup to witness.

These are the four primary reasons Kansas football vs. Deion Sanders and Colorado football would be one of the most exciting games in 2024.
