The Booth will be a packed house this Saturday when Kansas football takes on BYU.
For the first time since hosting College GameDay against TCU last season in October, the Kansas Jayhawks have announced that David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium sold out tickets for a football game.
The sellout comes against BYU, which will be the first conference game of the season for each school. It will also be the first-ever in-league contest for the Cougars since joining the Big 12.
Selling out the stadium is a rarity for Kansas football. That is one of the reasons Athletic Director Travis Goff wants to reduce stadium capacity in the renovations — there are empty seats during most games regardless.
Kansas and BYU will face off on the main stage on ESPN at 2:30 p.m. CT this Saturday in an extremely high-stakes game. Both teams are undefeated this season and will look to start off conference play with a bang.
Although KU has had two relatively easy games on its schedule, the team’s win during Week 2 against Illinois proved they are the real deal. When they are at their best, the Kansas football offense is as explosive as any other school in the Big 12.
The Cougars are coming off an upset win on the road against Arkansas after defeating Southern Utah and Sam Houston State to open the year. Although the offense has looked shaky, they are a physical team with a tough defense.
Kedon Slovis is BYU’s quarterback, a transfer who’s previously had stints at USC and Pittsburgh before coming over to Provo. He’ll go toe to toe against Jalon Daniels, the Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and one of the most electric signal callers in the nation.
Jayhawk fans can expect more sellout crowds this year, presumably against K-State in the Sunflower Showdown.
