The Kansas football team will have to make a strong impression on a high school recruit watching from the stands this Saturday.

While it’s difficult to put too much stock into a singular football recruit, Michael Boganowski is someone who would be a pacesetter in the Kansas Jayhawks football program.

The team and coaching staff have yet another opportunity to prove why he should commit to KU. According to Michael Swain of 247 Sports, Boganowski will take his second unofficial visit to Kansas when they take on BYU for the team’s first Saturday home game of the season.

It is a three-school race between Oklahoma, K-State, and the Jayhawks. He went to both of the aforementioned schools’ Week 1 contests as well. There is no frontrunner in his recruitment, although K-State did receive a crystal ball in their favor a while back.

Rivals rates him as the top player in the state of Kansas and the 17th-ranked athlete, though most recruiting sites list him as a hybrid of linebacker and safety. The website states that this will be the 6th visit to KU for the Junction City, Kansas native, but his only official came on June 8.

Kansas remains undefeated in 2023, escaping non-conference play unscathed with a 3-0 record. They’ll take on BYU in the Cougars’ first Big 12 game ever in what should be a sellout at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Securing a pledge from one of the best local players in the 2024 class would do wonders for Kansas football. AD Travis Goff has done a fantastic job of upgrading the stadium, team facilities, and rebranding a program that used to be the bottom of the barrel in Power 5 football.

Hopefully, kids are beginning to take notice of these changes, and Boganowski committing would further establish the trajectory of KU moving forward.
