5-star high schooler Liam McNeeley cut his list of schools to two. He will be deciding between Kansas basketball and Indiana.

With the recent news of Liam McNeeley canceling his official visit to Texas, the highly touted wing is only considering two schools at this point — the Indiana Hoosiers and Kansas Jayhawks.

McNeeley, a 6-foot-7 forward in the Class of 2024, is the 13th-ranked player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He included Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and Michigan in his initial list, but is down to two with Indiana being the clear frontrunner.

The incoming senior at Montverde Academy put himself on the national radar a year ago. He averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 25 contests during the 2022-23 season, according to MaxPreps.

He is teammates with fellow Kansas basketball recruiting targets, such as Derik Queen and Cooper Flagg. Queen took his official visit to Lawrence with McNeeley from Sept. 1-3.

A week after he visited Kansas, he took a trip to Bloomington to visit IU. Generally, the school that receives the final visit is in the best shape to receive a commitment from that recruit. But with some of the crazy recruiting wins Bill Self has pulled off recently, college basketball fans have learned to never count out the Hall of Fame head coach.

When watching McNeeley play, one might be reminded of the 13th pick in this year’s NBA Draft, Gradey Dick. He is arguably the best pure shooter in his class and would complement next year’s team nicely.

Another player McNeeley’s game resembles is that of Mackenzie Mgbako. Kansas had long been considered the favorite to land him until Mike Woodson and Indiana swooped in last minute. With the Hoosiers leading in his recruitment, it would be ironic to witness a reverse-Mgbako situation with McNeeley.
