Kansas Football Key Player No. 5: Patrick Joyner Jr.

Similar to the situation with Cobee Bryant, defensive end Austin Booker will miss the first half of tonight’s game due to a targeting call he sustained in the second half of the Illinois face-off. Joyner will have an opportunity to make an impression on the coaching staff with a strong showing against Nevada.

The sixth-year senior recorded his first sack as a Jayhawk last week and has been a pleasant surprise in the pass rush. Although he is no game-changer, I expect him to play a good portion of snaps even after Booker returns from suspension.
