Kansas Football Prediction No. 5: Daniel Hishaw Jr. rushes for 100 yards for the first time in his career

Losing Daniel Hishaw Jr. to a season-ending injury last season crushed the Jayhawks offense. The redshirt junior has never quite panned out in the crimson and blue, but he is finally starting to materialize next to Devin Neal as the 1B tailback.

Hishaw’s snap count continues to rise in the Kansas football backfield. In fact, he was on the field for just five fewer snaps than Neal (26 to Neal’s 31) when the team squared off against Illinois. During that time, Hishaw recorded 12 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Another factor that could play into this is Neal’s injury. He sat out for two drives against the Illini due to a hard fall he took on the sideline after a run, and Hishaw received extra snaps. In what should be a non-competitive contest, the coaching staff might opt to give Hishaw the majority of the workload to let Neal recover from his injury.

He is a powerful runner who can make quick cuts or break tackles off of any player. His running style is dynamic, and I am a huge fan of his game. I predict he’ll have his first career 100-yard game.
