Kansas Football Prediction No. 2: Jason Bean takes more than 60% of the snaps at quarterback

Lance Leipold and the current coaching staff have done a phenomenal job since arriving in Lawrence in 2021, but the Jayhawk faithful have learned that they do not give much information to the media. They often use gamesmanship tactics to make the opposing team think one way, leaving Kansas football fans in disarray.

That’s exactly what happened in the season opener against Missouri State. Jalon Daniels was listed as the starter on the depth chart, and everyone was under the impression that he’d open the game under center. The staff told reporters he would be able to play more than a week before the game happened.

And of course, Daniels didn’t even take a snap. Instead, it was Jason Bean.

Once again, the KU media is putting out the narrative that Daniels will receive the nod. He returned against Illinois and looked good as new in his 2023 debut. But considering he missed practice on Sunday and was limited for the rest of the week, the Kansas fanbase should be skeptical of his status tomorrow night.

Let’s make one thing clear — Nevada is a terrible college football team. By no means does Kansas need Daniels to win. If they decide to run him out for only three or four drives, I’d fully back that. He might have been out of the game by the second half regardless if the blowout had already begun.

I’m not predicting that Bean will start as the team’s signal caller, but rather that he will wind up taking the majority of snaps. Walk-on freshman Cole Ballard might get some game reps in, too.
