The Kansas Jayhawks improved to 2-0 with a tremendous performance against Illinois. These five players stood out the most for Kansas football.

For the first time since 2008-2009, Kansas has begun the regular season with a pair of wins in consecutive years. The program’s trajectory continues to shoot upward under third-year head coach Lance Leipold.

Under the Friday night lights, Kansas took down Illinois 34-23, albeit with some late-game blunders due to poor refereeing. The first and second halves were two separate tales, but it was an overall successful outing for the team.

Kansas has put together one of its most talented rosters in over a decade. Headlined by the preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and the only returning 1,000-yard rusher in the conference, the Jayhawks have proved why they are one of the best offenses in the country.

Multiple players stepped up for the Kansas Jayhawks yesterday, but these five stood out the most from the rest of the bunch.
