After days of speculating who would start at quarterback for the Kansas football teams, both Jalon Daniels and Jason Bean were present on the first offensive play of the game.
The Kansas Jayhawks star quarterback, Jalon Daniels, missed Week 1 due to lingering back tightness. Third-year transfer Jason Bean got the nod as KU’s signal caller, performing very well in Daniels’ absence. But who got the first snap for Kansas against Illinois? Well, they both did.
In yet another piece of trickery from offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, the first play from the Jayhawks featured a dual quarterback backfield with Daniels at the helm and Bean as his tailback.
Mark it down official in the books:

Jason Bean and Jalon Daniels both started at QB if you're scoring at home. #kufball
Daniels spent the entire first drive as the Kansas football quarterback, which was a good sign for someone who hadn’t taken an in-game snap since December of 2022.
Deception persisted for the Kansas football offense, and the Jayhawks came out with a huge opening score. Daniels threw a short touchdown to utility player Torry Locklin to put the first points on the board.
Jalon Daniels drops one over Torry Locklin’s shoulder for a Kansas touchdown! #RockChalk
