UTSA Roadrunners at Houston Cougars

Saturday, 6:00 p.m. CT, FS1

UTSA was terrific last season, finishing 11-3 and in the final CFP rankings for the first time in program history. Now in the AAC, they will look to build on their strong 2022 with a season-opening win against Big 12 newcomer Houston. I’m a big fan of Dana Holgorsen, but this Houston team’s defense is probably the worst in the conference. Frank Harris is back for another season after leading the Roadrunners to an average of 36.8 points per game a year earlier. When these two schools squared off in San Antonio last year, it came down to the wire in a 3-OT thriller. I think it’ll go something like that again on Saturday, but with UTSA coming out victorious.

Final Score Prediction: 46-39, UTSA
