Tounde Yessoufou is the latest recruit to be mentioned on the Kansas basketball radar. The Jayhawks offered him a scholarship this past June.
An extraordinary talent in the Class of 2025 is considering the Kansas Jayhawks. On3.com’s Jamie Shaw writes that Tounde Yessoufou has been in close contact with Bill Self’s coaching staff this offseason.
“They came to watch me play at Section 7, and then they watched me at Peach Jam,” Yessoufou said about the KU coaches. “They told me that I’m a beast, and they love how hard I play. That fits what type of player they like to recruit.”
Yessoufou — not to be confused with former Jayhawk Joseph Yesufu — is a consensus top-20 player in his class. Rivals lists him as the 9th best player in the country, while On3 and the 247 Sports Composite ranks him 12th and 16th nationally, respectively.
The 6-foot-5 small forward who attends St. Joseph in Santa Maria, California, is a defensive-oriented player. He prides himself in locking down his opponents but is also a tremendous athlete for his size. With a developing body and jump shot, Yessofou could continue to rise in the rankings if he makes additional strides in his game.
He seems open to staying on the West Coast, expressing interest in setting up an official visit to UCLA. Yessoufou plans to visit Washington on Sept. 9. Other schools that have caught his eye include Arizona, Arkansas, and others.
Yessoufou is not the only forward in the 2025 class Kansas has been linked to in recent days. Sebastian Williams-Adams says he is planning an official visit to the campus within the coming months.
With a knack for defense and a gritty play style, Yessoufou would fit in perfectly in a Bill Self system. He is someone all Kansas basketball fans should be keeping close tabs on.
