9. Oklahoma State

A defense that allowed 28.9 points per game lost nine starters over the offseason. That doesn’t sound like a recipe for success. If there were ever a Mike Gundy-led team that would struggle to reach his standards, this would be the one.

Oklahoma State hired Bryan Nardo from NCAA Division II college Gannon University. I’m not too familiar with his resume, but I’d understand if you found it puzzling why they thought that would fix anything.

Quarterback Spencer Sanders transferred to Ole Miss, which likely left the job for Alan Bowman. Almost all of the team’s talent is a significant dropoff from 2022. Coach Gundy always finds a way to steal some games, and the Cowboys have a light conference schedule for Big 12 standards, but it could be the first time OSU finishes sub-.500 since 2005.
