14. Iowa State

Coming off a 4-8 season — the second-lowest win total in Matt Campbell’s tenure — it already seemed like a transition year for the Cyclones. With the recent betting investigation that affected several ISU players, including quarterback Hunter Dekkers, 2023 will be even more difficult for them.

Replacing Xavier Hutchinson and Will McDonald IV will be a near-impossible task. The defense returns lots of talent in its secondary, but they won’t have a game-disrupting force on either side of the ball anymore.

Iowa State will need to start a true freshman or redshirt freshman under center if Dekkers is deemed ineligible by the NCAA. They also received one of the toughest breaks schedule-wise, with games on the road against Oklahoma, Baylor, and Kansas State while also facing Texas, TCU, and Oklahoma State. If I’m being honest, a Dekker-less Cyclones squad might lose every conference game this season.
