Game 7 at Oklahoma State Cowboys
A Big 12 road game at Oklahoma State is next up on the docket for Kansas football. The Jayhawks were able to defeat the Cowboys at home last year to achieve bowl eligibility for the first time since 2009. Oklahoma State has been one of the most consistent football programs in the country under Mike Gundy. Winning on the road in the Big 12 is not easy, especially against great coaches like Gundy. I like everything about the Oklahoma State program and is someone the Kansas football program should be mimicking.
That said, Oklahoma State had a bit of a tumultuous season by their standards last year, and some of it was not controllable. The Cowboys started off the season 4-1 and nationally ranked before an injury to QB Spencer Sanders derailed their season — similar to Kansas’ injury to Jalon Daniels. Oklahoma State finished 7-6 (4-5) with a victory over Wisconsin in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.
Oklahoma State lost a good amount of players to the transfer portal, especially on the defense. They did bring in former Texas Tech and Michigan QB Alan Bowman to capture the starting job after Spencer Sanders departed for Ole Miss. I trust Gundy to have a bounce-back season and continue his consistent winning at OSU this season. I predict Kansas have a tough time on the road in a hostile environment and to lose this game on defense.
My Prediction:
Oklahoma State wins 31-23 over Kansas
Kansas Football Record: 5-2
