Game 4 vs. BYU Cougars

This will be the first-ever Big 12 game for the BYU Cougars. The Cougars went 8-5 last season and played in the New Mexico Bowl against SMU, winning 24-23 over the Mustangs.

Kansas football couldn’t have asked for a better game to start off the 2023 Big 12 football schedule. Now the Cougars are a decent football program and have had a lot of success as an FBS independent, but they haven’t played a Big 12-caliber schedule for nine games in a row yet. I think it is going to be a big adjustment for the new Big 12 members playing teams who are more talented and stronger.

The Cougars lose their starting QB Jaren Hall and have replaced him with journeyman Kedon Slovis. I’d expect a dropoff at QB with Slovis taking over the starting spot, but they have an experienced coach who’s had a lot of success at BYU, so it’s hard to say they won’t be at least an average team.

I’m going to take the better quarterback and the home team against the team playing in its first Big 12 game. I predict Kansas football keeps rolling and defeats the Cougars at home in a high-scoring contest.

My Prediction:

Kansas wins 38-31 over BYU

Kansas Football Record: 4-0
