Game 9 at Iowa State Cyclones

Kansas football travels to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones. Last season, the Jayhawks were able to defeat the Cyclones 14-11 in a game that saw Iowa State miss three field goals, including a miss from 33 yards to tie it late in the 4th quarter.

Matt Campbell has brought Iowa State back to relevancy, but last season was a nightmare. With NFL talent on the defensive side, and probably the best defense he’s had at Iowa State, he was only able to achieve a lousy 4-8 (1-8) record. Iowa State had serious problems at quarterback last year with Hunter Dekkers, as he took way too many sacks and turned the ball over too much.

This offseason was scandalous for the Cyclone program. The aforementioned Dekkers was caught up in a gambling investigation where he was betting on Iowa State football games. Dekkers has been suspended from the program and will seemingly not be playing this year. There were multiple players caught up in this gambling scandal and have since been suspended.

Even though it is on the road, I think Kansas matches up well with the Cyclones talent-wise. With it being pretty late in the season, I’d expect it to be pretty frigid in Ames, so that could help the Cyclones a little bit.

My Prediction:

Kansas wins 20-17 over Iowa State

Kansas Football Record: 6-3
