Watch: This Flory Bidunga mixtape will excite Kansas basketball fans
This electric mixtape of Flory Bidunga high school highlights should make Kansas basketball fans excited to watch their most recent commit in action.
Flory Bidunga shocked the college basketball world when he pledged to the Kansas Jayhawks over premier programs such as Auburn and Duke. He is the third-highest-ranked KU commit since recruiting websites began tracking players.
Recruiting analysts initially thought Duke was the frontrunner to land him, and then he was considered an Auburn lock. However, Hall of Fame head coach Bill Self was able to dive deep into his bag of tricks to secure a commitment from the top-rated center in the 2024 recruiting class.
To prepare the Jayhawk faithful for Bidunga’s arrival a year from now, X user @grilledbybill released an awesome mixtape of Flory’s highlights that I wanted to share with you all. It gives KU fans a sneak peek of what to expect from him in Lawrence.
Here it is:
The mixtape gives us everything we need to know about him. Right off the bat, Bidunga’s athleticism stands out. He hardly has to make an effort to dunk the ball, and his head can reach the cylinder of the rim. There are very few players with his body archetype that can jump that high.
Despite being listed as a 6-foot-8 center, he shows flashes of being a point forward. He reminds me more of a Julius Randle-type high school player — someone who can do it all rather than an inside bruiser, which is what many people are making him out to be. He should excel at protecting the rim, offensive rebounding, and catching lobs from Dajuan Harris.
Unsurprisingly, someone who has only played basketball for the better part of four years does not have the most polished game. He also isn’t nearly as good a jump shooter as fellow Jayhawk southpaw Hunter Dickinson. However, he could establish himself as one of the most talented Kansas big men in the 21st century if he continues to build on his game.
