These five Jayhawks are in the perfect position to have breakout seasons for Kansas football in 2023.

The Kansas Jayhawks return 17 of their 22 starters from the 2022 season, but there are still some voids to be filled. Last year’s sack leader, Lonnie Phelps, is off to the NFL, and so are other key pieces on the defensive line. There is also plenty of uncertainty surrounding who will start on the offensive line.

Coming off a 6-7 season and a loss in the Liberty Bowl, expectations are high for Kansas. The program is being recognized nationally and has received respect for the newfound culture that has been instilled in the past few years.

Most of KU’s production will come from bigger names, such as quarterback Jalon Daniels, running back Devin Neal, and cornerback Cobee Bryant. But there are a few Kansas football players who have shown promise in fall camp and could become big-time contributors for head coach Lance Leipold.
