According to a recent tweet that should excite Kansas basketball fans, the long-awaited Flory Bidunga decision day is nearing.

It is decision time for the top-ranked center in the Class of 2024. Flory Bidunga announced on the app X that this week will be when he makes his college choice. He will be choosing between Duke, Auburn, Michigan, and the Kansas Jayhawks.

The 247 Sports Composite ranks the Kokomo High School big man as the No. 4 player in his class. He burst onto the scene as a junior and is widely considered one of the most talented players on the recruiting trail.

Kansas basketball has been pulling out all the stops to make him the program’s first commitment in the 2024 class. At 6-foot-8, 215 lbs, he is a tremendous athlete and a menacing paint presence. A dominant junior year saw him post averages of 20.2 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks across 29 games played, according to MaxPreps. He officially visited the KU campus on May 12.

Flory Bidunga would be a historically massive pickup for Kansas basketball

Bidunga’s 0.9989 247 Sports prospect grade suggests Bidunga would be the third-highest-rated Kansas commit in school history. Since recruiting sites began tracking players, only Andrew Wiggins and Josh Jackson have been rated higher than he.

Assuming Hunter Dickinson departs to the NBA following the 2023-24 season, the Congo native will have a wide opportunity to star for Bill Self’s group as a freshman. He is perceived as a one-and-done NBA talent, likely even a lottery pick in next year’s draft.

The likelihood of Bidunga becoming a Jayhawk has waned in recent days. He received three crystal balls to Duke this weekend, which might suggest that his recruitment is all but over. However, we must account for last-minute complications — look no further than Mackenzie Mgbako, who was supposed to be a Jayhawk until hours before his decision was revealed to the public.

He is still in high school and needs to decide what is right for him. For all we know, his decision day could be delayed until next week. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide our readers with details.
