Big 12 football: Ranking each of the conference’s starting quarterbacks
By Kyle Jones
No. 7: Blake Shapen – Baylor
A pair of multi-touchdown performances to close out 2021 gave hope to Baylor fans that Shapen was the future of the program. While 2022 was far from dreadful, it wasn’t quite the success story they had hoped for. Six of Baylor’s 13 games saw Shapen throw for less than 200 yards, while the same amount of games garnered just a single touchdown from the quarterback.
He threw for just eight of his 23 touchdowns in Baylor wins, meaning that he wasn’t the driving force of their success. The Bears return most of their pass catchers, however, so this year could be a step in the right direction for Shapen.
