Big 12 football: Ranking each of the conference’s starting quarterbacks

No. 4: Quinn Ewers – Texas
For Ewers sake, he better hope his up-and-down 2022 was due in large part to the shoulder injury that caused him to miss 3.5 games. His game log tends to show that may very well be the case.
He had 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a runaway win against Louisiana-Monroe in the season opener. The next week against Alabama, the Longhorns had 1st and goal from the Alabama one-yard line when Ewers went down. They would score on that drive, but go on to lose 20-19. They may very well win that game if Ewers plays all four quarters.
When he returned from injury, his performance was sporadic. He had three games of 280-plus yards, but also five games of less than 200 yards. If he is healthy and lives up to the hype he had coming into last season, this ranking could be three spots too low.
