No. 5: John Rhys Plumlee – UCF

Plumlee is a bit of a tough one to rank. Last season at UCF, he put up a respectable 2,586 yards and a 14:8 touchdown to interception ratio. If that level of play translates to the Big 12, then this is probably around the right area for him.

However, in his one year of play in a Power 5 conference, he threw for just 910 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. That was also his freshman season, so I can’t fault him too much for his struggles.

What really stands out for Plumlee is what he can do with his legs. He was second among all FBS quarterbacks in rushing yards, trailing Jayden Daniels by just 23 yards (while playing in one less game). If his passing game can take another step forward, he could lead the Knights to a successful first season in the Big 12.
