The Kansas basketball team will close out its slate of exhibition games in Puerto Rico this afternoon when they face off against the Bahamian National Team.

Two days after the Kansas Jayhawks extended their exhibition game win streak to 35, they will look to repeat as winners against the Bahamian National Team — but it will be a far greater challenge this time around when they take them on in a rematch at 11 p.m. CT.

KU defeated the Puerto Rico Select Team 106-71 on Aug. 3, following up the victory with yet another on Aug. 5. Returning players reminded us what they were capable of, while several newcomers showcased their talent to Jayhawks fans for the first time.

Buddy Hield competed for the Bahamian team on Saturday, albeit in one half. He scored 18 points and engaged in some trash talk with KU super senior Kevin McCullar. Now, another handful of NBA stars could see floor action.

Deandre Ayton, a former No. 1 overall draft pick and one of the most skilled offensive centers in the game, was seen on the sidelines during Saturday’s matchup. He will be matched up with Hunter Dickinson in what should be an intriguing big-man competition.

Eric Gordon, who has scored more than 13,000 points across his 15-season NBA career, is expected to start for the Bahamas. Former Big 12 rival Kai Jones — who played at Texas for two seasons — could also compete in the outing.

The Jayhawks’ 35-game exhibition win streak could very well come to a close today. Arterio Morris will miss the contest due to a bone bruise, and the Bahamian National Team has the advantage of receiving fresh legs versus a KU team that will have played three games in five days. However, the Kansas basketball Puerto Rico trip has been a memorable experience for each of Bill Self’s guys as they prepare for the season. The group will benefit greatly from this experience, no matter the outcome.
