List of NBA stars Kansas basketball could potentially compete against in Puerto Rico
Buddy Hield
Hield is a familiar face for Jayhawks fans. The 3-point sniper who once competed at the collegiate level for Oklahoma partook in some of the most entertaining Kansas basketball games in the 2010s — most notably a 46-point performance in a triple overtime thriller back in 2016.
More than seven years after he received a standing ovation from the Allen Fieldhouse crowd, Hield will face the Jayhawks in a different setting. The Bahamas native is in the prime of his career at age 30 and holds an average of 16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 548 career games.
Coach Self told The Kansas City Star that Hield’s flight to the Bahamas landed at 10 or 11 p.m. on Thursday. He mentioned that he expects him to play. Considering he didn’t say that about any other players, Jayhawk fans can expect Hield to compete on the hardwood.
