Conclusion

I don’t think Kansas is going to leave the Big 12 imminently. The conference finalized an extension until the 2030-31 season last year with a new media rights agreement in hopes to keep schools together. Things looked a little more iffy last season, but Yormark has brought stability to the conference.

The Big Ten likely won’t even think about adding Kansas until the end of the 2020s. Meanwhile, the SEC could add Kansas if they want to continue to expand as a basketball conference, but that might come in the better part of a decade or within the next few years. With the unpredictability surrounding college sports lately, it’s hard to give a precise answer to any questions about conference realignment. My prediction is that the athletic department stays committed to the Big 12 for now, but that the university would consider bolting somewhere else if a strong opportunity presented itself.

Next. Colorado to Big 12 should make KU football even more fun. dark
