3. UNC hasn’t traveled to Allen Fieldhouse since 1960, and KU has never played in Chapel Hill

Believe it or not, this is an extremely rare matchup. UNC and Kansas have played five times in the regular season before, the most recent being in Roy Williams’ final season as KU head coach in 2002-03 on a neutral site. The Jayhawks have beaten the Tar Heels in their last four meetings, which have all come in the NCAA Tournament.

They have met in the Final Four more than any other two schools in history, but regular season matchups are hard to come by. Kansas consistently plays other blue bloods like Duke and Kentucky because they appear in the Champions Classic, but UNC has typically strayed away from the Jayhawks.

The last time UNC traveled to Allen Fieldhouse was in 1960, a game that KU lost 78-70. That was for a home-and-home across 1959 and 1960, but UNC played in Raleigh, not Chapel Hill. Being that it is the first home-and-home between the two in 64 years, the history behind the game should make fans extremely excited.

Kansas basketball has played, but never beaten, these teams. dark. Next
