Former Kansas basketball signee Marcus Adams Jr. has found a new home.

Marcus Adams Jr. lasted a little over a month with the Kansas Jayhawks before deciding to leave the program. He didn’t waste any time selecting his new school, committing to the Gonzaga Bulldogs just six days after asking out of his National Letter of Intent.

Earlier in the day, Adams announced he would no longer be taking a visit to the school in Spokane, Washington. However, he wound up pledging to head coach Mark Few without even seeing the campus.

A 6-foot-8 forward from Harbor City, California, Adams was the No. 104 player in the Class of 2023, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He was initially expected to join Kansas next season but reclassified to join Bill Self’s squad a year early.

Michael Swain of 247 Sports put out an article on July 15 about the intel on KU’s three (at the time) freshmen. He had interesting things to say about the status of Adams.

"“Marcus Adams Jr. has flashed his scoring ability at times during the summer, particularly shooting the ball from the perimeter. But generally, it hasn’t been the smoothest transition. There’s been an adjustment, physically, for Adams thus far from what I’ve heard and that process will need to continue over the next several weeks and a few months. In terms of the style of play that Adams would need to adopt to have a role on this year’s team, there’s also been an adjustment period as well.”"

It was only a couple of days later when Adams Jr. decided to leave Kansas basketball. Adams made comments to the Kansas City Star to explain why he left, suggesting that homesickness/lack of chemistry was a factor and playing time was not. Only people very well connected to the situation know why the Narbonne High School student actually decided to leave the KU program, but his comments with The Kansas City Star don’t seem to match up with his subsequent actions.

Adams will have to receive a waiver from the NCAA in order to play this upcoming season due to entering the transfer portal after the deadline for non-graduate players to receive immediate eligibility. Despite not technically playing a game at the Division I level yet, Adams is considered a transfer because he had enrolled at KU. It will certainly be interesting to see how his college career unfolds from here on out.
