Mass Street slipped by their first-round opponent in TBT, but they’ll need to improve considerably tomorrow against the Mizzou alumni team. These are five keys to victory for Kansas basketball.

After receiving a No. 1 seed in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), the Kansas Jayhawks alumni team headed into the bracket with high expectations. However, they were almost upset by We Are D3, a team that had never won a game in TBT in its first four tries.

Mass Street — the NIL sponsor of KU’s alumni team — barely got by in the Round of 64, winning 70-67. The team overcame a nine-point halftime deficit for an exciting finish to the game. However, they have their hands full in round two with a much more menacing opponent.

At 3:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, July 22, Mass Street squares off against the No. 4 seeded “Show Me Squad,” which is Mizzou’s alumni team in TBT. The former conference rivals will see each other in Allen Fieldhouse later this year, but this will be more of a friendly outing. Still, tensions should be high between the two teams for bragging rights.

Show Me Squad defeated Las Vegas Rebellion 96-90 in the opening round. They feature players such as Isiaih Mosley, Jontay Porter, and Tony Criswell, who altogether combined for 57 points. Three players on the roster played at the Division I level in 2022-23, which is the complete opposite of a Mass Street squad mostly comprised of early to mid-30-year-olds.

These five keys will prompt Mass Street — the Kansas basketball alumni team in TBT — to victory over the Show Me Squad.
